PV KGB - Soviet Border Guards is a contemporary examination of one of the most distinctive formations of ground soldiers in the Soviet Armed Forces. In contrast to the majority of other branches, PV KGB Border Guards engaged in actual combat during the latter part of the Cold War.

As with the preponderance of Soviet Union-related topics, knowledge of the PV KGB - Soviet Border Guards is typically limited and fragmented. Given the secrecy surrounding the Soviet KGB, it is even more difficult to locate and analyze useful information regarding these soldiers.

On the plus side, hundreds of thousands of individuals served in the PV KGB, which, given the size of the Soviet border, was only natural. This affords us the rare opportunity to obtain firsthand information on a variety of issues associated with this service branch.

The book will cover the following topics:

  • History of the PV KGB - Soviet Border Guards
  • Unique uniforms assosiated with the Border guards
  • Insignia - badges and medals, which were only issued to the frontier troops
  • Regular field equipment and special equipement required for the border control
  • Structure of the Border Guard units
