Three books this year - now printed and on their way to the fulfilment centres
Before the year is out, three new books will land at our warehouse, and we couldn’t be more excited to share them with you.
Guardians of Neutrality: Swiss Rifles Through the Ages
Our Kickstarter hit of 2026 has reached its final proofreading stage and goes to print this month. It is, by a wide margin, the most complex and most fascinating book we’ve ever produced. Across nearly 600 pages, it traces the complete evolution of the Swiss rifle in extraordinary detail, from the earliest designs through to their later refinements.
From Balkans to Babylon: Zastava AKs of Yugoslavia, Serbia and Iraq
One of our most anticipated titles is almost here - printed and on its way to the warehouse. It brings together everything currently known about the Zastava and Tabuk AK-pattern rifles in a single, definitive volume. With expert commentary from some of the best-known voices in the firearms blogosphere, it is set to be the most comprehensive work on the subject yet published. A big thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered: your early support helped us set the print run precisely and made the whole project possible.
Here is a video review of this book:
The War is Over
This large-format photography book takes an unflinching look at what soldiers carry long after the battlefield falls silent. Blending staged fine-art photography with documentary-style imagery, it captures the invisible wounds of war through the raw power of the image rather than words. Each high-resolution work belongs to one of five interconnected fictional storylines exploring post-traumatic stress, isolation, silence and the struggle to rebuild civilian life. Whether you collect art photography, are drawn to stories of resilience and the human cost of conflict, or simply believe images can say what words cannot, this book was made for you.
Pre-order prices end on 1 November
All three titles are still available at their discounted pre-order price, but not for long. On 1 November we switch to full retail pricing, so if you’ve been meaning to reserve a copy, now is the time.
Next year, 2027, is planned to be big for Safar Publishing
We have big plans for 2027. With more than ten books in the works, we hope to publish at least six of them.
Early next year, we will launch a Kickstarter campaign for Bosnian War by Francesco Bossi. It is perhaps the most complete book on the history of the conflict, accompanied by almost 150 impressions of the soldiers and combatants who took part in the war.
Alongside it, we will print VDV USSR: Soviet Airborne Forces during the Cold War by Ingvar Horodetskiy. This book covers the history of the Soviet Airborne Forces at their peak, from the late 1960s until the end of the Soviet era. Featuring a number of new illustrations and photography of a large collection of rare collectible items, it is the definitive title for Soviet Army collectors.
Finally, the third title is the second edition of Soviet Weapons of the Afghan War. It is our best-selling title in the small arms series so far, and it was out of stock for half the year. We will only print a limited number of copies, so if you want one, make sure to secure it before they are all gone. This edition will feature updated, higher-quality photography, corrections to the text and possibly some new weapons. We are also considering a new cover design.
But this is only the beginning of the year! More titles are planned for summer 2027. First and foremost, we are getting close to completing Captured: Modern Russian Weapons Taken in Battle. It is the first book to comprehensively document modern Russian firearms, photographed from weapons captured on the front line, most of them never published before. For collectors, researchers, armourers and serious small arms enthusiasts, Captured is the most complete visual reference ever assembled on the weapons of the modern Russian arsenal: the rifles, machine guns and launchers developed and produced since the collapse of the Soviet Union. More on this book soon.
Some more distant projects to discuss...
There are couple of books that been hanging on the website for years now. Rest assured, if the book is still here, it is still in the work. However, some titles are more complex than the others. Yet, we hope that they will be completed to our ever increasing standards at some point and will finally be released.
